Hey guys…we spent the better part of today working to get everyone acclimated to our new temporary living situation. Miranda and I went and got our badges for building access, washed a couple loads of laundry, and then we went on a short family walk, which ended in the twins asking to be carried because they were too hot. For the first half of the day, there were planes constantly taking off and landing, as many of our organization’s pilots get training here as part of their assignment preparation–maybe we’ll go over and watch one day while we’re here.
We also stuffed a LOT of envelopes–Phoenix, Cyclops and Wolverine chipped in with folding papers, collating envelopes and cards and brochures and such, until we ran out of envelopes. I didn’t get any photos of the assembly line we set up because I was busy managing the process. But we do have a photo of their finished work, all stacked up, stamped with return address and ready to be labeled, stamped and sent out.
We spent about an hour today working to get these ready–look for one coming to a mailbox near you soon! (If we don’t have your snailmail address, though, you won’t get one–we’d love for you to email it to us.)
After that, we walked over to another apartment on the center here, where we shared a very tasty dinner with a young couple who are preparing for a life of Bible translation while living here temporarily. They made a curry (among other things) and were surprised when three of the kids asked for seconds! We also shared cake with them.
We walked over to a new neighbor’s home tonight, to have dinner and share a sorta-birthday-cake with them. It will be Dale’s and Cyclops’ birthdays soon.
We had dessert after dinner. Wolverine really enjoyed the homemade whipped cream they served with the cake.
Tomorrow, we’ll run some more errands while doing a “dry run” for Thursday, when classes start. We might even try to do some hiking or something fun while we’re out.
Which 3 asked for seconds?
The three oldest. I’m not sure the twins liked it too much, but the others did. And Wolverine was the first done, asking for more. It was a chicken-and-bean curry with cream in the sauce.
